About

Friends,

As most of you know, New Heights is a non-profit that I have been involved with since I originally arrived in New York City in 2014, and a cause I have supported from afar as I finished my MBA in Philly.

Now that the MBA is complete, I am ready to get back to being a strong teammate to New Heights and its amazing students.

A little background info:

For those who are not familiar, New Heights NYC is an organization that aims to provide NYC student-athletes with opportunities to succeed on and off the court.

Our mission is to educate and empower promising underprivileged youth to be leaders, champions, and student-athletes by developing the skills necessary for success in high school, college, and life. New Heights creates opportunities and provides support for promising youth to fulfill their potential in the classroom, on the court, and in the community. See links below for more info (donation link at bottom).

This year, I’m participating in New Heights’ 8th Annual Team Challenge 24-Hour Push-Up-A-Thon on Saturday, June 5th. Every spring, the New Heights family joins together for our Team Challenge Shoot-A-Thon, to raise crucial funds for New Heights. But this year (again, sadly), due to COVID-19 we are shifting to a "Push-Up-A-Thon" as we rally together to push through these challenging times.

As we all know, COVID-19 has impacted many aspects of young people's lives, preventing students from learning and socializing in the same way we did growing up. For our New Heights student-athletes, basketball and team sports play a crucial role in their lives, and help them succeed both on and off the courts. With your help, we can ensure that they’re able to hit the ground, court, and classroom running when things open up very soon.

Now here's where you can help: I'm seeking to raise $1,000 to benefit the 12U Boys Blue Team. You can support me by making a one–time donation OR you can pledge an amount that is contingent on my success attempting 100 push-ups in 10 minutes (so if you pledge $1 a push-up and I make 50 out of the 100 attempts, you would donate $50 etc.).

Last year I was in much better shape for this.... this year... we will see!

100% of funds will go toward supporting our College Bound Program, providing New Heights care and summer programming for our kids in this new setting.

Zoom link to be provided for those that want to see how out of shape I am and watch live!

All my best,

Jake

SUPPORTING NEW HEIGHTS:

PUSHING UP + MOVING FORWARD TO BROOKLYN!!

New Heights never stops working on behalf of our student-athletes. Even while we were physically separated from one another for much of the past year, we pushed forward with the biggest project we’ve ever undertaken -- our new home facility in Brooklyn. This September we will move into our new forever home. With three full-sized basketball courts, classrooms, a technology lounge and administrative offices, our new home will be a game changer for thousands of young people and their families.

As we prepare for this major transition, the entire New Heights family is once again coming together for one final push toward reaching this exciting goal. Our staff, parents, coaches, ELC and Board members and, most importantly, our student-athletes will join together virtually for our 8th Annual Team Challenge -- a 24 Hour Push-Up-A-Thon. On Saturday, June 12th, participants will attempt 100 push-ups in 24 hours. The kickoff countdown begins at 10am on Zoom, where everyone will be gathered remotely to cheer each other on.

The Team Challenge is a fundraising event, and while we understand that many of us are now struggling in more ways than one, we ask our extended New Heights family to come together and once again support our student-athletes.

THE TEAM CHALLENGE:

Starting June 12th at 10am, each participant will have 24 hours to complete 100 push-ups. We are asking for sponsors for every completed push-up. You can pledge anything from 10¢ to $10 per push-up. Every dollar is extra special to us right now, we need it now more than ever to keep New Heights in the game.

For Example: You pledge 10¢ per completed push-up and the player completes 50, you would donate $5 (10¢ x 50). If you pledge $1 and the player completes 100 push-ups, you would donate $100 ($1 x 100). PLEDGE or make a one-time DONATION today.

100% of funds will go toward supporting New Heights’ current Back to Play COVID-19 Adaptive Program Model and our move to Brooklyn this Fall.
