About

PUTTING THE FUN BACK IN FUNDRAISING!

Last summer I began working for New Heights Youth, an organization that helps level the playing field for inner-city kids by providing access to academic resources that might otherwise be out of reach (tutoring, SAT prep, summer learning, college visits and application guidance, career exploration, networking, etc.). Since its inception in 2005, every New Heights senior has graduated from high school, 98% of them have gone to college AND 75% graduate within six years.

What’s our secret? BASKETBALL.

New Heights combines year-round basketball programming with long-term educational and social support to help student-athletes unlock their full potential and thrive – on and off the court. We engage hundreds of girls and boys each year through basketball, and turn their passion for the game into a tool that opens doors to future educational opportunities.

And on May 12th yours truly will join our student-athletes on the court for New Heights’ 5th annual Shoot-A-Thon fundraiser. As General Manager of the 15U "Blue" Girls' Team, I'll be shooting 100 free throws, and I ask that you consider pledging money toward every successful basket I make. You can pledge anything from 10 cents to 10 dollars (or more!) per basket made (an average investment of $6- $60) or make a one-time donation. All proceeds will go toward New Heights’ programs for youth.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Do it for the kids. But if you’re not motivated by kids, then do it for the spectacle of me (ME!) throwing a basketball 100 times. And of course I promise I’ll wear something insane.
