About

MOVE OVER MICHAEL JORDAN!

Seven years ago, I began working for New Heights, a non-profit organization that levels the playing field for underserved youth in New York City by providing access to academic resources: tutoring, test prep, summer day camp, leadership workshops, financial literacy training, college application guidance, campus visits, career exploration, professional networking and more!

Since our inception in 2005, every New Heights senior has graduated from high school on time, 98% of them have matriculated to college AND over 75% graduate within six years.

What’s our secret? BASKETBALL.

We start by engaging young people in a sport that they love and then introduce them to a world of new ideas and experiences that broaden their understanding of life and what they can accomplish. By combining basketball with long-term educational and mentoring support, we help them thrive on AND off the court.

And on June 15th, I will join our student-athletes on the court for New Heights’ 11th annual Team Challenge Shoot-A-Thon fundraiser. As a "General Manager" of the 17U Boys’ Team, I'll be shooting 100 free throws, and I ask that you consider pledging money toward every successful basket I make. You can pledge anything from 10 cents to 10 dollars (or more!) per basket made, or make a one-time donation. All proceeds benefit New Heights’ academic and athletic programs for youth.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Do it for the kids. But if you’re not motivated by kids, then do it for the spectacle of me (ME!) throwing a basketball 100 times. I promise to take photos!

Many MANY thanks!

Josh
