American Legion California Boys & Girls State

We are reaching out to you to share some exciting news! The American Legion California Boys State Commission announced recently their decision to make our beloved Program Coed in 2023. This decision was affirmed by the Delegates to the annual American Legion Department of California Convention. It came after careful deliberation about the future of the Program in California after changes in the California Education Code that take effect on January 1.

We will be making history as the first American Legion Boys State to become a fully integrated Coed Program! Our new name is "American Legion California Boys & Girls State." The Program Staff began working on this possibility months ago and we are moving ahead taking our Program to the next level. We are inviting you, as part of the American Legion California Boys State family, to be part of this historic change. This is a huge undertaking. It is requiring a significant financial investment and we are reaching out to ask for your help in supporting us.

We are challenging each class to join us and we are asking for your support in the form of a contribution to The California Boys & Girls State Foundation. Top classes will be recognized at this year's program.

Our fundraising goal is $50,000 for the transition to the Coed Program. Your donation, in any amount, will go a long way to helping us take the Program to the next level.

As we told you at the Opening Program of the year you attended, "Once a Boys State Citizen, always a Boys State Citizen." That carries over to American Legion California Boys & Girls State!
