Hi Everyone, thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
My name is Chelsea Baez and I am the Communications and Development Associate at New Heights Youth, Inc. I am an alumni to New Heights' core program, College Bound, which integrates education, athletics and leadership development to help student-athletes develop the skills necessary for success in high school, college and life.
I became involved with New Heights a little over 15 years ago as a 9 year old girl who just wanted to play basketball. Over the years New Heights has become my home away from home and my second support system for anything I needed athletically as well and most importantly academically. New Heights has been a critical part of my life by assisting me through both my high school and college transitions and processes, attending Riverdale Country School, then Syracuse University. Beside helping me academically and athletically, New Heights has helped me gain confidence and leadership qualities for the real world. They have not only taught me the importance of being a great athlete and great student but being humble and generous person all around.
I am now back with New Heights working with today's student- athletes trying to give them the same opportunities if not more that New Heights gave me. On May 14th, I will be participating in New Heights's 3rd Annual Shoot-a-thon, raising money for the 10th grade boys’ team, to help ensure that they receive high-quality year-round basketball and academic programming.
Here's a little bit about the organization:
• 100% high school graduation rate since 2005
• 98% college matriculation rate since 2005
• 365 New Heights’ student-athletes have been placed in college prep high schools in NYC and throughout the nation
• 271 New Heights’ graduates have matriculated to college
• $51M estimated in total scholarship and financial aid dollars have been awarded to New Heights’ student-athletes
I’ll be shooting 100 free throws and I’m asking for pledges for each made free throw. It can be anything from 10 cents to 10 dollars. So, if you make a 50 cent pledge and I make 60 free throws, you would donate $30 to the team. Every dollar raised goes to benefit our youth.
Please help me raise the funds to support these talented student-athletes!
-Chelsea
